Impervious Carpets
Sandhurst Flooring (UK) Ltd specialises in the supply and installation of impervious carpets in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Nurseries and Staffrooms.
These carpets are normally used where clean ability is an important factor. The backing of the carpet offers varying degrees of impermability. Aqueous liquids, such as water, can normally penetrate through conventional carpet. Thus, in cases where water is spilled on conventional carpet, it typically seeps through and ultimately reaches the flooring below. This trapped water can lead to bacterial or fungal growth which can further cause odours and deterioration of the carpet backing or flooring. In the impervious carpet the backing prevents water from passing through the carpet. Spillages can be cleaned and removed quickly and effectively.
The impervious backing also permits washing of the carpet with generous amounts of water without wetting the subfloor. Therefore, these carpets can be shampooed and wet methods used for regular maintenance.
Impervious backed carpets are manufactured with loop or cut pile surfaces and are available as plain, mottled or patterned.
We offer impervious carpets from the top manufacturers such as Ege, Heckmondwike, Gradus and Joseph Hamilton & Seaton.
